Le Sud is a private school of excellence, located in the heart of Marrakech and catering for children from kindergarten to secondary school.

Driven by the charisma of its founder, Mr Abderrahman Zyat, Le Sud has inherited a long pedagogical tradition since 1988.

Our school is the work of a visionary and avant-garde Mr. Zyat: a teacher born in Marrakech in 1934 who, after memorizing the Holy Quran, he joined the Ben Youssef faculty in 1947.

There, he obtained the Aâlimiya diploma in literature, history and religious sciences in 1959, then taught at the Mohamed V High School of Marrakech from 1967 to 1971, and became principal of several high schools in different cities, including the Youssef Ibn Tachfine in Agadir: a French middle and high school.

He later became Director of the Teacher Training Center in Marrakech and then General Inspector for Executive Training at the Central Services in Rabat.

Parallel to this meteoric professional rise, Mr. Zyat obtained a degree in geography and medieval history from the Faculty of Literature in Rabat, followed by a diploma in translation in 1966.

2005: this year was a turning point: with great boldness, an extension and new building operation was launched.

In 2006, the middle school was inaugurated in response to the parents’ requests.

2009 was also a decisive year, with the opening of highschool right after middle school, with the aim of developing a single educational unit.

In 2017, the school joined the Cambridge Assessment program, enabling students to prepare progressively for English in its 4 skill areas (listening, reading, writing and speaking). As part of this process, the school is adapting its teaching to the international standards of the University of Cambridge, in particular by organizing training workshops for teachers, trained by teams from the Cambridge University.

Starting from 2020, the school has integrated the Cambridge English Program into its teaching and rolled it out to all students from Kindergarten to High School. In March 2020, Le Sud was officially awarded the Cambridge English School International Label by the University of Cambridge, raising the profile of the school and the entire Kingdom on the international education scene.

At the heart of this great dynamic, our school has inherited an educational tradition and a rich past that will enable it to meet the educational challenges of tomorrow.
